Rangers battered Hamilton at the Hope Stadium on Sunday but Steven Gerrard’s side are still eight points adrift of Celtic.

Hamilton boss Brian Rice admitted that his side could not deal with Rangers’ passing game as they were thumped 5-0 in front of their own supporters on Sunday, while speaking to Herald Scotland.
There was no hope for Accies at the Hope Stadium yesterday as a Rangers side without suspended top scorer Alfredo Morelos ran riot.
Ryan Jack, Jermain Defoe, Scott Arfield, James Tavernier and Kyle Lafferty were all on the score sheet, the latter for the first time in five months, as Steven Gerrard’s side produced one of their finest performances of the season.
The Gers dominated both the scoring and the possession, managing 65 per cent of the ball, and Rice has paid tribute to their ability to control the game and strangle the life out of the opposition.
“The biggest thing for me today was Rangers’ ball retention, the way they moved the ball around, moved us all across the pitch, was fantastic,” Rice admitted.

“Could we have made it more difficult? Yeah. Could we have stopped them? Maybe not.
“We might have done but maybe not because it was that good.”
Unfortunately for Rangers, their win was overshadowed by Celtic’s 4-1 thrashing of Motherwell at Parkhead; a result that keeps Brendan Rodgers’ side eight points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
But Rangers are well placed to secure a runners-up spot and performances like this highlight the improvements they have made since Gerrard arrived at Ibrox.
