Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly interested in bringing Porto’s Mexican international midfielder to the Premier League in January.
A central midfielder might not appear to be a priority for Wolverhampton Wanderers with Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho, Leander Dendoncker, Romain Saiss and Morgan Gibbs-White all plying their trade at Molineux.
But with a player who looks absolutely tailor made for Nuno Esprito Santo out of contract in just a few months’ time, it seems that he simply cannot be ignored.
The fact that Hector Herrera could leave Porto for free in the summer has not gone unnoticed with clubs like Arsenal, Inter Milan, Roma, Sevilla and Atletico Madrid are interested. Tuttomercatoweb, however, has thrown Wolves’ name into the mix on Monday.

Because the 28-year-old is everything Nuno wants from a central midfielder.
Herrera is a player blessed with prodigious work-rate, a box-to-box enforcer who not only starts attacks with his probing passing but shackles opposition attackers with his intelligent reading of the game and tireless pressing.
Herrera combines the work rate of Saiss with the passing range of Neves, meaning he’d be a perfect fit for the 3-4-3 system Nuno has brought to the Black Country.
In fact, it is hard to think of a midfielder who would suit Wolves’ better.
