Steven Gerrard wants to raid Premier League giants Liverpool for Dominic Solanke – but will the striker be playing for Rangers at Ibrox next season?

Liverpool's English striker Dominic Solanke celebrates after scoring during the English Premier League football match between Liverpool and Brighton and Hove Albion at Anfield in Liverpool,...

It took some time, 27 games in fact, but Dominic Solanke has finally opened his account for Liverpool – and what a way to do it.

In a rare Premier League start, Solanke fired home a stunning finish in Sunday’s 4-0 thrashing of Brighton and Hove Albion, capping a very promising display which showed why Liverpool were so keen to sign him last summer when his contract at Chelsea expired.

And if there were any Rangers fans wondering why their new manager Steven Gerrard has made Solanke his top summer target, as reported by the Scottish Sun, this display on the final day of the 2017/18 season should answer some questions.

Steven Gerrard is unveiled as the new manager of Rangers football Club at Ibrox Stadium on May 4, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

The 20-year-old has not made the impact Jurgen Klopp might have hoped for in his debut season at Anfield but, as Brighton discovered, the former England youth star is a player with real potential.

Not only did he get on the scoresheet himself, he assisted Mo Salah for the first of the afternoon and ran the visitor’s defence ragged with his intelligent movement and eye-catching hold up play.

Dominic Solanke of Liverpool scores his sides third goal during the Premier League match between Liverpool and Brighton and Hove Albion at Anfield on May 13, 2018 in Liverpool, England.

And, despite the fact Rangers scored five against Hibernian shortly before the game at Anfield kicked off, the Ibrox faithful are more keen than ever for Solanke to continue his development north of the border.
