Nacer Chadli was expected to leave West Bromwich Albion after their relegation to the Championship, but remains at The Hawthorns for now

It seemed for all the world that Nacer Chadli had played his last game for West Brom after they were relegated from the Premier League. But despite the Belgian forward’s impressive displays at the World Cup, he is still at the Championship club – with just a week remaining in the international transfer window.
Chadli has been heavily linked with the likes of Besiktas and Napoli, but the Birmingham Mail report that no club has so far been willing to meet his £17 million release clause.
The 29-year-old hasn’t yet featured in any of The Baggies league fixtures in 2018/19. But West Brom’s assistant coach Graeme Jones, who worked with Chadli for the Belgian national team this summer, has now suggested that the Midland giants are hoping the former Tottenham attacker stays at the club.
“He’s as talented as anybody,” Jones told the Birmingham Mail. “Of all those players I worked with at the national team, he’s as impressive as anyone with his use of space, timing and understanding.

“I’d love nothing more than for Nacer Chadli to stay here. I’m hoping the style of play we’re growing into would help him to want to stay. I can’t make Nacer’s mind up for him. That’s down to Nacer.”
Chadli has been struggling with a hamstring injury of late, but could make his first appearance of the new season against Middlesbrough on Friday night.
And the one-time FC Twente man could add that extra dash of quality which makes West Brom real promotion favourites.
