West Bromwich Albion have bid farewell to technical director Nick Hammond with The Baggies bottom of the Premier League table.

West Bromwich Albion are undergoing some rather substantial changes from top to bottom after a disastrous Premier League campaign which has made a return to the Championship inevitable.

Chairman John Williams and chief executive Martin Goodman were sacked in February, manager Alan Pardew (below) was given the boot last week and now Nick Hammond, the much-maligned technical director, has also departed after two years at The Hawthorns, as reported by the BBC.

Baggies fans had long since lost patience with Hammond, who they blamed for contributing to the club’s rapid decline from the top ten to bottom of the table in just one year.

The former Reading director of football did bring some impressive signings to West Brom, the likes of Kieran Gibbs, Grzegorz Krychowiak, Jay Rodriguez and Daniel Sturridge arriving during his tenure.

But most of his signings, while impressive on paper, have struggled to perform on the pitch. And then you consider the undoubted flops like Brendan Galloway, Hal Robson-Kanu and £15 million record signing Oliver Burke (below), who has barely been seen in a West Brom shirt.

According to Sky Sports, West Brom have already appointed Hammond’s replacement in Guiliano Terraneo, who has arrived as a technical consultant on an initial six-month deal with Albion chief executive Mark Jenkins confirming the Italian will play a role in choosing a new head coach and recruiting new signings.

West Brom fans, understandably, will hope he does a better job than Hammond.
