Donny Van de Beek scored in Ajax’s valiant Champions League semi-final defeat against Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur.

Glenn Hoddle has encouraged Tottenham Hotspur to make a move for Donny Van de Beek after knocking his Ajax side out of the Champions League on Wednesday night, while speaking on BT Sport (8 May, 10:00pm).
Van de Beek and co were left heartbroken in front of their own supporters when a second-half Lucas Moura hat-trick fired Spurs into the Champions League final at Ajax’s expense.
But the Dutch midfielder still came out of a thrilling tie with plenty of credit, scoring the only goal of the game in North London during the first leg.
Van de Beek has netted 16 goals in all competitions this season, adding another 12 assists, while earning comparisons to Paul Scholes for his ability to make perfectly-timed runs into the penalty area.
And Hoddle, a former Tottenham player and manager, believes Van de Beek would be a fine addition to Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
“Yeah and rightly so,” Hoddle said when informed of Spurs’ links with the 22-year-old. “He’s a top quality player isn’t he.
“I think he’s grown as a player in the last year. His movement off the ball, he knows when to make runs, he’s good on the ball, but he knows that picture, plays with his head up.

“This kid has got a big future, he really has.”
Le Parisien reported on Wednesday that Tottenham are one of a number of clubs looking to sign Van de Beek, along with PSG, Bayern Munich and North London rivals Arsenal.
But Ajax will demand around £45 million.
