Glen Kamara moved to Rangers from Dundee in January and shone for the Gers in their U23 draw with St Johnstone.
The last thing Lassana Coulibaly needed was for Glen Kamara to produce an outstanding individual performance on his second appearance in the famous colours of Rangers.
The 23-year-old is yet to make his first-team bow since sealing a protracted move to Ibrox from Dundee but has shone in his two outings for Graeme Murty’s second string side as he looks to build up his fitness.
Kamara looked a cut above in the 1-1 draw with St Johnstone on Monday, setting up Glenn Middleton’s equaliser while dominating the game with his intelligent passing range in the centre of the park.
The Finland international’s standout display came just a few hours after his former Dundee boss Neil McCann referred to him as a ‘class act’, a more technical footballer than Ross McCrorie and Ryan Jack who could be Rangers’ new Barry Ferguson.
And this is a worrying development for Coulibaly, who started alongside Kamara on Monday but was comfortably outshone.
The Mali international started the season brilliantly after arriving on loan from Angers but has fallen down the pecking order of late as his form dried up. He has played just four minutes of league football since the turn of the year and hasn’t started since the 1-1 draw with Hibernian on Boxing Day.
Now Kamara threatens to push him further away from the starting XI.
