Premier League trio Manchester United, Tottenham and Bournemouth want Kieran Tierney from Scottish Premiership champions Celtic.

The chances of Kieran Tierney leaving Celtic this summer look very slim.

The homegrown left-back only inked a six-year contract back in the autumn and has frequently spoken publically about his desire to remain at his bhoyhood club for the foreseeable future.

But that does not mean clubs from the Premier League have given up hope of luring Celtic’s number 63 south of the border.

Kieran Tierney of Celtic is seen during the Scottish Premier League match between Celtic and Rangers at Celtic Park on April 29, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

The Sun report that Tierney is a long-time target of Manchester United and is also on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur. Bournemouth, meanwhile, are a surprise entry into the race and are understood to be targeting the £20 million-rated Scotland international this summer.

But it’s that price-tag which has former Celtic hero John Hartson asking questions.

“£20m from Bournemouth? Give me a break. I’m not having that. I wouldn’t be entertaining that for a second,” Hartson told the Evening Times, while comparing Tierney to legendary left-back Stuart ‘Psycho’ Pearce.

John Hartson of Celtic celebrates after scoring during the Scottish Premier division match between Celtic and Hearts at Celtic Park on April 5, 2006 in Glasgow, Scotland.

“First things first. Celtic don’t want to sell and the boy doesn’t want to go. Second of all, how high he goes is entirely up to him.

“I won’t be the first person or last to say this but Kieran is a player who has the potential to go all the way to be the very top in the game – and I mean the very top. But only if he makes that call himself.”

Tierney has won two Scottish Premiership titles since breaking into Celtic’s first-team and has also proven himself at Champions League and international level too.

So with the bigger fees flying around for British-born talent, for example £50 million for Ryan Sessegnon and £28 million for the seldom seen Luke Shaw, should Celtic place a bigger price-tag on Tierney’s head to ward off suitors?
