Rangers reportedly want to bring Tom Eaves to the Scottish Premiership after a fine spell in League One with Gillingham.

Gillingham might be 16th in the League One table, but that does not mean they have given up on a shock promotion bid in the second half of the season. So the prospect of Tom Eaves leaving in January hardly bares thinking about.
Centre-forward Eaves is in the form of his life right now, scoring 14 goals in 26 games in all competitions.
As a result, he is attracting interest from elsewhere, with Sky Sports claiming that Rangers are keeping tabs on the 26-year-old, along with Championship duo Blackburn Rovers and Preston North End.
But, speaking to Kent Online, Gillingham owner Paul Scally has indicated that he has no plans to sell Eaves in January with Championship football in his sights, even if the former Bolton striker is out of contract next summer.
“They want to try their chance at the Championship. If we could get into the Championship then they will stay with us, I am sure,” Scally said of Gills’ out-of-contract players, including Eaves.

“Of course I would love to keep Tom Eaves, of course we have done everything we can, but it doesn’t necessarily always come down to money.
“There are many players who actually want the opportunity to play in the Championship and for that you must applaud them.”
Rangers, then, might have to wait until next summer before they have a chance of bringing Eaves to Ibrox, with Scally seemingly ruling out the prospect of cashing in on his prized asset midway through the current campaign.
But, according to the Express, Steven Gerrard is desperate to bring a new striker to Glasgow in the January window, meaning he might be forced to shelve his interest in Eaves and look at alternative options.
