It is not an easy life being a substitute goalkeeper and Jak Alnwick knows that more than most.
Two-and-a-half years after joining Rangers for Port Vale in a £250,000 deal, as reported by the Daily Record, he has accumulated just six appearances in the Scottish Premiership, 11 in all competitions.
And, heading into the 2019/20 season, there was a very good chance that he would be fourth choice behind Allan McGregor, Wes Foderingham and Andy Firth. So a move to Blackpool, and the chance to reunite with Jordan Thompson and Ryan Hardie, could have come at the perfect time.
According to the Blackpool Gazette, Alnwick is closing in on a season-long loan move to Bloomfield Road and he’ll be hoping for far more success than he enjoyed during a spell at Scunthorpe United recently.

The Iron were relegated with Alnwick conceding 71 goals in 43 League One games.
But will the 26-year-old be missed at Ibrox? Probably not. Yes, he’s a solid enough back up but Rangers deserve credit for streamlining what was previously a bloated squad and there’s no real place for Alnwick anymore.
