Gary Lineker reacts on Twitter to Jordan Pickford’s Everton heroics

Jordan Pickford saved Luka Milovojevic’s penalty as Everton sealed a 2-0 Premier League win against Crystal Palace on Sunday at Goodison Park.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Cenk Tosun were Everton’s match-winners on Sunday afternoon, coming off the bench to score as the Toffees left it late to beat Crystal Palace 2-0 at Goodison Park.

But it could all have been very different on Merseyside had Jordan Pickford not stepped up when it mattered.

The England number one brilliantly saved a Luka Milovojevic penalty midway through the second half with the scores level at 0-0, reacting with lightning speed to deflect the ball away as the Serbian international clipped his spot-kick down the middle.

Reacting on Twitter, Everton legend Gary Lineker was quick to laud Pickford for his heroics.

The former Sunderland goalkeeper has come under criticism at times this season, particularly after a nervy display in the 3-1 home defeat against West Ham and after England’s 3-2 Nations League win against Spain, when he was almost left red-faced as a needless Cruyff turn went wrong.

But Pickford continues to develop a reputation as a man capable of stepping up when it matters to save his team.

He did it for England at the World Cup against Colombia in the knockout stages and that penalty-saving penchant has now been transferred to club level.
