West Ham United reportedly bid £27million to bring Maxi Gomez to the Premier League, but the Uruguayan stayed in La Liga with Celta Vigo.

West Ham United’s first four games of the new Premier League season perhaps explain exactly why they wanted Maxi Gomez before the transfer window slammed shut.
The Hammers have scored just twice so far in 2018/19, with Manuel Pellegrini losing all his league fixtures since returning to English football. They are lacking a real presence in attack right now and that is what Gomez would have provided.
Radio Galega (01.32am) reported that West Ham had made a £27 million bid for the Uruguayan centre-forward. But Celta Vigo were not willing to let him leave for less than £35 million; a fee West Ham could not afford having already spent a huge sum during the transfer window.

And, while West Ham toil at the bottom of the Premier League, Gomez has wasted no time showing them what they are missing.
After plundering 17 goals in his debut La Liga season in 2017/18, the 22-year-old already has two goals and two assists to his name in 2018/19. He even scored one and set up the other in Celta’s shock 2-0 win against Atletico Madrid on Sunday.
It is fair to say the so-called ‘new Diego Costa’ overshadowed the man himself at the Balaidos.
While avid La Liga viewers are signing Gomez’s praises, West Ham should be ruing the brilliant form of a man who embodies everything their attack is missing.
