Inter Milan’s Serie A flop ‘Gabigol’ could move to the Premier League with West Ham United and Fulham linked.
West Ham United’s pursuit of Brazilian striker Gabriel Barbosa appears to have taken another unwelcome turn.
Calciomercato reported this week that the Hammers are in talks with Inter Milan about signing the 22-year-old, who moved to the San Siro in 2016 for £29.5 million.
Gabriel has failed to impress at Inter and, after scoring 27 goals on loan at former club Santos last season, the Nerazzuri are allegedly keen to cash in.
But, according to Goal, West Ham are facing some fresh competition. It is understood that Inter would also allow Gabriel to leave on loan as long as a club agrees to pay his wages – and Fulham may be willing to do exactly that.
So West Ham could face a battle with their London neighbours for a player who was initially tipped to follow in the footsteps of Neymar, Gabriel Jesus and co when making his name back in Brazil.
Fulham certainly need a striker capable of taking the pressure off Aleksandar Mitrovic as they aim to avoid an immediate return to the Championship.
Goal, however, has pointed out that Gabriel would have second thoughts about joining a team in a relegation battle although a mid-table side, like West Ham, could catch his eye.
Fulham and West Ham could face a challenge securing a work permit, however, with Calciomercato pointing out that he is not guaranteed to be granted one by the FA.
