It is almost two weeks now since Rangers opened talks with Fulham about potentially signing experienced midfielder Kevin McDonald, as reported by Football London.

And, if Rangers still want to bring the 30-year-old Scot at Ibrox, it seems the door has been left wide open. According to Sky Sports, Fulham are willing to let McDonald leave Craven Cottage on loan this month after he fell down the pecking order under Claudio Ranieri.

But whether a move to Ibrox is still on the cards remains to be seen.

Central midfield is not exactly the weakest area of the Gers’ squad right now, with Steven Davis and Glen Kamara adding to the options available to Steven Gerrard this month.

The former has arrived on loan from Southampton while the latter has agreed a pre-contract agreement, although his summer switch from Dundee could be moved forward to now.

However, it seems that Gerrard is indeed keen to add one more midfielder to his ranks. The Daily Record claimed that the former Liverpool captain is eyeing a deal for Derby County’s Craig Bryson, another veteran Scot who shares more than a few similarities with McDonald.

So do not rule out the prospect of the Angus-born enforcer returning to Scotland before the end of January.
