Callum Wilson would be a fine addition for Premier League Wolverhampton Wanderers, who missed out on Aston Villa’s Tammy Abraham on Tuesday.

Wolverhampton Wanderers will have to look elsewhere as Nuno Espirito Santo attempts to bring a new striker to Molineux.

Wolves were expected to sign Tammy Abraham this week but, according to the BBC, the Chelsea forward has turned down a move to the Black Country and will now remain on loan at Aston Villa for the rest of the season.

Abraham has scored 16 goals in 20 Championship starts for Villa and The Sun reported that Wolves were willing to pay £18 million while offering the England international a £120,000 a week contract.

But, with the deal looking dead in the water, who should Wolves target instead. Well, according to former winger Shane Tudor, Callum Wilson wouldn’t be a bad alternative.

Wilson is in the form of his life for Bournemouth, scoring nine goals in the Premier League while netting on his England debut against the USA. And Tudor, who started his career at Molineux, feels the 26-year-old would be a fine addition.

“I think Tammy Abraham would be a big signing, but is he prolific?” Tudor told The Brian Moore Show on Love Sport Radio (8 January, 3pm).

“I’m not convinced if I’m being honest. I’d like to see Wolves go out and be challenging for Callum Wilson. He’s from closer to the area than a lot of strikers you’re going to get.

“I feel you’d have to spend £40m, but £40m guarantees you a striker who is going to score goals.”

Bournemouth have made it clear that they have no interest in cashing in on Wilson with Chelsea understood to be interested, as reported by The Mirror.
