Rangers are set to play Aberdeen in the Scottish League Cup semi-final later in October.

Derek Ferguson has certainly stoked the fires ahead of the Scottish League Cup semi-final clash between Rangers and Aberdeen at the end of October.
The two domestic rivals are set to go head-to-head for a place in the final, where they will face either Hearts or Celtic. But the build-up to an intriguing cup clash has been dominated by the issues of ticket sales.
As reported by the Daily Record, Aberdeen demanded a 50-50 split with Rangers, seeing their ticket allocation increased from around 16,000 to 20,000.
But it is understood that less than half of those on offer have been purchased, meaning The Dons have now handed back around 5,000 tickets – much to the chagrin of Ferguson.
“It’s embarrassing that Aberdeen have only shifted 9,000 tickets. This is the League Cup semi-final for goodness sake,” the former Rangers star told the Daily Record.
“The Dons fans appear to be totally disinterested and you have to ask why they can’t even bothered to turn up at Hampden to cheer on their team.

“You would have thought the fans of the team who have finished second in the Premiership for the last four seasons – and who have also made a big song and dance about that achievement – would be scrambling to get tickets for such a massive match.”
It remains to be seen whether Ferguson’s comments could act as extra inspiration for an Aberdeen side who lost 3-0 to Celtic in the 2017 final.
But Rangers manager Steven Gerrard will be desperate to get to the final at Hampden Park, having transformed the club’s fortunes since he took over at Ibrox in the summer.
