It’s easy to forget that Peter Odemwingie was once one of the most consistent strikers in England and Hull could have done worse than offer him a deal.

Former Hull City boss Steve Bruce has admitted on Goals on Sunday that was considering offering a contract to veteran striker Peter Odemwingie before resigning from the newly promoted club.
Bruce departed the KCom Stadium just weeks after guiding the Tigers to the top flight for the second time after becoming increasingly frustrated with a lack of support in the transfer market from the club’s owners, according to the Guardian.
Hull eventually splashed out heavily on the eve of the new season, bringing in Tottenham midfielder Ryan Mason in a club-record deal, but Bruce admits that he was forced to scour the market for bargain deals at the start of the summer, with former West Brom striker Odemwingie a possibility.

“He came and did pre-season, played a few games,” the former Manchester United captain said on Goals on Sunday.
“If I’d have stayed I might have offered him something. He was still bright enough and most importantly fit enough. He’s 35 but he didn’t look 35. He was certainly on the short-list.”
The 63-time capped Nigerian international featured three times for Hull in pre-season, failing to find the net on each occasion, and is currently without a club after being released by Stoke City at the end of the 2015/16 campaign.

However, Bruce’s claims that Odemwingie has put his fitness issues behind him will surely pique the interest of potential employers.
After all, the versatile attacker has proven pedigree in the English game, netting 15 times in his debut Premier League season for West Brom in 2010/11.
