Maryan Shved has shone for Karpaty Lviv, could he replace West Brom loanee Burke at Scottish Premiership champions Celtic?

Oliver Burke appears to be entering his final few weeks as a Celtic player.

The £15 million winger has been on loan at the Scottish Premiership champions from West Bromwich Albion since January.

And, although he has barely wasted an opportunity to point out that he would love to stay, the Birmingham Mail reports that Burke is likely to be brought back to The Hawthorns, with each and every Baggies player likely to be handed a clean slate after the sacking of Darren Moore.

Burke has scored four times in 10 league games for Celtic, adding speed and versatility in attack. So although he is far from the finished article, he will be missed.

But maybe the Hoops already have the ideal replacement lined up. Maryan Shved, after all, continues to confound the critics who questioned why Celtic paid £2 million for a little-known Karpaty Lviv winger three years ago (Scottish Sun).

Shved, who won the Ukrainian League’s Player of the Year award in 2018, is going from strength to strength since returning to Karpaty on loan until the end of the season.

He has five goals in his last three games, 14 overall, and won the league’s Player of the Month award in March.

And unlike Burke, whose game relies on quick transitions and powerful bursts, Shved appears to have a little more in his locker, an element of unpredictability and the tendency to beat full-backs with skill and precision rather than sheer force.
