James Vaughan was a reliable goalscorer in the Championship with Huddersfield Town – and Sheffield United should consider giving him a second chance.

Ched Evans was in the form of his career in his final season at Sheffield United. With 35 goals in 42 games in all competitions, the Welsh goal-machine appeared to be on track to prove exactly why he was once so highly rated by Manchester City’s academy.
And, five years on, it appears that Evans is on the verge of a dramatic return to Bramall Lane with unfinished business on his mind. According to The Star, The Blades have agreed a £500,000 fee with his current club, Chesterfield United, as manager Chris Wilder aims to build a squad capable of surviving their first season back in the Championship after six years away.
Despite scoring 89 goals in 45 games in League One this season, no player other than top scorer Billy Sharp has hit double figures. Therefore, it makes sense for United to reinforce their attacking ranks.
The question, however, is whether Evans is the right man. Though plying his trade in a relegated Chesterfield outfit, a tally of five goals in 25 games is far from impressive.

Instead, perhaps The Blades should consider a move for another League One hotshot thriving in a struggling team. Without James Vaughan’s 24 goals in 36 games, the five point cushion between Bury and the relegation zone would certainly be a lot smaller.
The former Everton striker, still the Premier League’s youngest ever goalscorer, is enjoying the most prolific season of his career. And, after seemingly recovering from a relentless string of injuries, Vaughan has also racked up his highest ever tally of appearances in a single campaign.

He’s in the form of his life right now and Sheffield United should consider striking while the iron is hot. Furthermore, Vaughan has considerable Championship experience, averaging one in three at Huddersfield Town.
Therefore, perhaps United should choose sense over sentiment and sign Vaughan instead of Evans.
