Premier League basement boys West Bromwich Albion are looking in the Segunda Division for a striker and Iglesias stands out.

West Bromwich Albion are already preparing for life in the Championship. Ten points adrift of safety and glued to the bottom of the Premier League, it would be rather silly not to.

According to the Sun, the Baggies have even gone as far as to identify the goal-scorer who could spearhead their promotion challenge next season, but he is not exactly a household name.

It is understood that West Brom are very interested in the £2 million-rated Guillermo, a 24-year-old striker who has scored just five goals in 26 games in Spain’s second tier this season.

But if Alan Pardew’s side are looking into the Segunda Division for cheap attacking reinforcements, there are better and more prolific options than Guillermo, who scored a brace against Real Madrid in the Copa Del Rey this season but has struggled for consistency throughout.

According to El Periodico de Aragorn, Real Zaragoza’s Borja Iglesias is a man in demand and it is not difficult to see why. The Celta Vigo loanee has 15 goals in 29 games in the second tier, including six in his last six.

As it stands, his contract at Celta expires in 2019 and there has been no movement on a new deal, meaning a striker who has only featured once in the first team since 2013 could be available on a cut price deal.

Brentford are reportedly keen, as are a Celtic side who may lose Moussa Dembele in the summer and also face a tough decision about whether to sign Odsonne Edouard permanently for £7 million. The in-form Iglesias would be a cheaper option while allowing them to make some much-needed investments in other areas of the squad.

But if it is a second tier Spanish striker West Brom want, they must have a look at Iglesias.
