Salomon Rondon did not score double figures in a Premier League season for West Bromwich Albion but that has not put off Newcastle United fans.

Islam Slimani’s short-lived spell at Newcastle United will be remembered for suspensions and injuries rather than goals.
The Algerian failed to score in just four appearances for the Magpies since joining from Leicester City on loan in the January transfer window. Needless to say, his hopes of a permanent move to St James’ Park quickly disappeared.

The likes of Nicolai Jorgensen and Karl Toko-Ekambi fit the bill but it remains something of a surprise that Salomon Rondon so far has not entered the discussion.
But while Rondon has been far from prolific in his three years at West Brom, scoring 24 league goals in 108 games, he could be the influential number nine that Slimani was supposed to be.

With pinpoint deliveries provided by the likes of Matt Ritchie and Jonjo Shelvey, Rondon would surely find goals easier to come by at Newcastle than he did with the Baggies.
And £16 million surely puts him within Newcastle’s budget.
