Daniel Sturridge started just twice as West Bromwich Albion finished bottom of the Premier League but scored in the Champions League against PSG on Tuesday.

Just a few months ago, Daniel Sturridge was struggling for game time on loan at West Bromwich Albion.
The England international was farmed out to the Baggies in the January transfer window after tumbling down the pecking order at Anfield. But the injuries that have seen his career stall in recent seasons struck again at The Hawthorns.
Sturridge was supposed to be West Brom’s saviour but, in the end, he managed only two starts from January to May as Darren Moore’s side finished bottom of the Premier League.

So it is fair to say the antics of Tuesday night represent quite the turnaround for the former Chelsea and Manchester City striker. Sturridge made his first start of the 2018/19 season in Liverpool’s Champions League opener against PSG thanks to an eye injury that kept Roberto Firmino on the bench.
And Sturridge took his chance in style. Midway through the first half, he set Liverpool on their way to a terrific 3-2 win with a bullet header, powered home after a terrific Andrew Robertson cross.
No wonder Sturridge celebrated in style. He has come a long way since being stuck on the West Brom bench.
