Moussa Sissoko’s spell in the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur seemed to be coming to an end when Fenerbahce were linked.

A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans might have been left jumping for joy when Moussa Sissoko was linked with a move to Turkey earlier this month.
The Frenchman has been a figure of ridicule among many supporters since his £30 million move from Newcastle United on the summer transfer deadline day in 2016.
And the Sun claimed that Sissoko’s frustrating spell in North London could come to an end, with Fenerbahce keen to take him to Turkey on loan with an option to buy. Interestingly, Fener’s director of football Damien Comolli once held the same role at White Hart Lane.
But, amid the mounting speculation, Fenerbahce have moved to distance themselves from Sissoko and broken the hearts of some of his harshest critics as a result.
“In the public opinion, the news that we are attempting to transfer Moussa Sissoko … does not reflect the truth,” read an official statement on Sky Sports’ live blog (12.11pm).

“Regarding a transfer of Moussa Sissoko to our club, there has been no contact with the player, the manager or the club.”
The 29-year-old played the full 90 minutes of Tottenham’s Premier League opener against former club Newcastle but struggled badly. He has not been seen in either of the next two games, the 3-1 and 3-0 wins over Fulham and Manchester United respectively.
