Everton have been linked with a stunning move to bring Arsene Wenger to Goodison Park if he is sacked by Premier League rivals Arsenal.

What are the chances that Arsene Wenger will still be managing in the Premier League next season – but not with Arsenal?
The 68-year-old veteran is under more pressure than ever before at The Emirates with Arsenal suffering four successive defeats for the first-time in 16 years in Sunday’s shocking 2-1 loss at Brighton, one week after their EFL Cup Final thrashing against Manchester City.
But if Arsenal do take the plunge and finally, perhaps belatedly, hand Wenger his P45 after over 20 years of service, the Daily Star claim that he could be offered an immediate route back into the Premier League with Everton.

Sam Allardyce may not be under quite so much strain as his Gunners counterpart right now but his fellow sexagenarian is also facing an uncertain future with Everton stalling under his management. A 2-1 defeat away to Burnley on Saturday was the latest in a series of dreadful away performances from a side performing to a fraction of their potential.
But while the prospect of Wenger taking over at Everton looks far from realistic right now, perhaps one man means it is more likely than you would expect.
After all, Everton’s majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri knows the long-serving Frenchman very well, having joined the Arsenal board alongside business partner Alisher Usmanov back in 2007.

And it is understood, via the Star, that Moshiri believes Wenger is the ideal man to transform Everton’s ailing fortunes.
On paper, this looks like one of the most fanciful rumours you will hear all year, but the Moshiri factor means it cannot be written off entirely.
