Gboly Ariyibi still hasn’t made a Championship appearance for Nottingham Forest and has now returned to the City Ground from Northampton Town.

It didn’t take long for Northampton Town to shake up their squad after the sacking of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
The Dutchman was given his marching orders last week with The Cobblers in real danger of relegation to League Two and the club has wasted no time in getting rid of a couple of his key players – including Gboly Ariyibi.
The winger only moved to Sixfields on loan from Nottingham Forest in January but failed to make much of an impression and did not score or set up a goal in 11 games for Northampton, many of which came from the substitute’s bench.

Thus continues a worrying spell for the USA speedster, who hasn’t made a single appearance for Forest since he joined from Chesterfield for £500,000 in January 2017.

And while some Northampton fans seem to be a little disappointed that they have seen the last of Ariyibi, a raw yet skilful talent who is capable of lighting up a game on his day, you wonder what the future holds for him at Nottingham Forest.
