Zak Rudden has impressed Rangers manager Steven Gerrard with his form at Falkirk so is a Scottish Premiership debut on the way?

Zak Rudden of Rangers celebrates after scoring a goal in the second half of the game during the Pre-Season Friendly between Rangers and Bury at Ibrox Stadium on July 6, 2018 in Glasgow,...

Falkirk manager Ray McKinnon says Zak Rudden has been ‘phenomenal’ during his spell on loan from Rangers after the young striker cleaned up at the club’s end of season awards, while speaking to Deadline News.

The 19-year-old striker has spent the 2018/19 season on loan with The Bairns and he has impressed during a miserable season for the Championship outfit.

Falkirk need a miracle if they are to survive relegation with just one game remaining and their hopes of pulling off a great escape rests squarely on the shoulders of the teenager Rudden.

He has scored 12 goals in all competitions, Rudden’s impressive displays earning him four awards at the club’s end of season gongs, including being named their Player of the Year.

“Zak has been phenomenal for us this season. That [awards clean sweep] was deserved. He has come in here and gives everything to the cause,” McKinnon told the Deadline News.

“He knocks his pan in, scores important goals and, for or such a young boy, we have been delighted with him.

“Zak deserves all the credit and plaudits the people give him – but we also need other players to step up.”

Zak Rudden (2ndR) of Scotland looks on when he stands near team mates during the Under 19 Euro Qualifier between Germany and Scotland on March 21, 2018 in Lippstadt, Germany.

Speaking to the club’s official website in March, Rangers manager Steven Gerrard admitted that he sees a place for Rudden in his first-team squad, expressing plenty of admiration for a player who was keen to test himself at senior level with a loan move to Falkirk.

The chances are that he will have to fight Alfredo Morelos, Jermain Defoe and Kyle Lafferty for a place in the starting XI however.

Steven Gerrard is unveiled as the new manager of Rangers football Club at Ibrox Stadium on May 4, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.
