Miguel Almiron is a standout player in the MLS with Atlanta United – but could he move to the Premier League with West Ham?

West Ham United are not the only Premier League club who have been linked with the Atlanta United star Miguel Almiron with Arsenal, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur emerging as potential destinations in recent days.

But The Hammers might have one key advantage – Fabian Balbuena.

Like Almiron, Balbuena is a Paraguayan international and, according to D10, the claret and blues will use the summer signing to help them lure his highly-rated compatriot to the London Stadium in the New Year. D10 adds that West Ham are ready to pay £25 million.

And, to add extra intrigue to this quickly spiralling transfer saga, Balbuena has now had his own say about whether Almiron would be a success under Manuel Pellegrini.

“We know the conditions that Miguel Almiron has,” the former Estudiantes man told Big Football on Paraguayan radio station Monumental (11.30am).

“I’m sure he’ll do very well here.”

24-year-old Almiron is one of the most talented young footballers in a league that has been criticised in recent years for focusing too much on expensive veterans such as Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard.

He has scored 12 goals and set up 11 more for Atlanta United this season with manager Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino lauding his versatility and complete skill-set.
