Championship duo Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers were fighting it out to sign Belgian left-back Laurens De Bock in the January window.

It takes time adapting to a new league, culture and language, but Leeds United fans should still have been worried by Laurens De Bock’s display in Wednesday night’s 2-2 draw with Derby County.
The Belgian left-back, a £1.5 million January signing from Club Brugge, endured a bit of a nightmare at Pride Park. He made a number of mistakes in the first-half and, inevitably, it was his mix-up with Liam Cooper which gifted Andreas Weimann an equaliser on the stroke of half-time.
“He’s been stinking,” Noel Whelan told BBC Radio Leeds.
“He had a horrible game. He’ll be the first to admit it if he’s honest with himself.”

On this evidence, Wolverhampton Wanderers will not be too concerned that they missed out on bringing De Bock to Molineux.
Though De Bock’s difficult start to life in England means it is difficult to imagine him being anything other than third choice in Nuno Espirito Santo’s pecking order – behind the excellent Barry Douglas (below) and 18-year-old Monaco loanee Ruben Vinagre.

De Bock, however, has a long way to go before he can prove that he is even Championship quality.
