Everton are set to snap up Gylfi Sigurdsson in the near future, according to reports.
Everton have already snapped up Wayne Rooney, and are also said to be interested in signing Swansea City’s Gylfi Sigurdsson – and their expected pay packets at Goodison Park may just give a clue as to how Ronald Koeman sees the pecking order for places in his starting line-up.
The Daily Star have suggested that Rooney’s contract at Everton is worth £125,000-a-week.
While that deal places Rooney among the top earners at Everton, it is actually less than what Sigurdsson could earn.
Everton are said to be willing to offer Sigurdsson a whopping £135,000-a-week deal to join according to The Daily Mirror, and that may just indicate that Koeman sees the Iceland international as his main creator.
Rooney and Sigurdsson look set to battle for the number 10 spot in Everton’s team, and the pair should increase the creativity available to Koeman.
But it is unlikely that they will both play, and Koeman may just see Sigurdsson as the more productive man at this stage of their respective careers.
Sigurdsson scored nine goals and claimed 13 assists last season, whereas Rooney only managed to find the back of the net five times over the course of the campaign for United.
