Scottish Premiership giants Rangers signed Hyndman on loan from Bournemouth in 2017 – and now reportedly want Everton’s Kieran Dowell this January.

If Kieran Dowell makes the move to Rangers in the January transfer window, he can expect to be compared with another Premier League midfielder who headed to Ibrox on loan midway through the season.
Emerson Hyndman arrived from Bournemouth in January 2017 and immediately proved a hit with supporters. The American added goals and skill to the centre of the park, making a major difference as soon as he arrived.
But could Dowell be even better?
According to the Daily Record, the highly-rated Everton playmaker has been identified as the ideal number 10 for Steven Gerrard’s side. Assistant coach Gary McAllister scouted Dowell as he scored in England’s 2-0 U21 win against Scotland in November and kept an eye on him over the summer too.
And after making just one appearance for Everton all season, coming in the EFL Cup in October, a short-term move away from Goodison Park suits all parties. But what could Dowell bring to Rangers?

Well, like Hyndman, the 21-year-old has the potential to provide goals and cutting edge in attack. Dowell proved himself during a spell at Nottingham Forest last season, finishing as their Championship top scorer with nine goals while adding another four assists.
A player capable of the spectacular and a cracking set-piece, Dowell is arguably a talent on a whole other level to Hyndman, who is currently in and out of the team at Hibernian.
And he’d offer something completely different to a Rangers side who are hardly heavy on goal-scoring midfielders.
