Premier League duo Everton and West Ham United both sent players on loan to Serie A outfit Fiorentina last summer.

The sudden resignation of Stefano Pioli as the manager of Fiorentina could have an impact on two Premier League clubs.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the former Inter Milan and Lazio boss has walked away with La Viola stuck in mid-table. But what does this mean for Everton or West Ham United?

Kevin Mirallas and Edimilson Fernandes are currently on loan at Fiorentina after all with purchase options in their contract worth £6.7 million and £6.5 million respectively.

But by the time a decision has to be made on their future, the Florence-based outfit will more than likely have a new manager at the helm.

Former Belgium international Mirallas has endured a somewhat disappointing spell in Serie A, scoring just twice in 23 games. Fernandes, meanwhile, had forced his way into Pioli’s starting XI after a slow start to life in Italy for the out-of-favour West Ham midfielder.

Both Mirallas and Fernandes don’t appear to have a future at Goodison Park and the London Stadium respectively so Everton and West Ham would have welcomed a sudden cash windfall when the transfer window opens.

But with Pioli gone, their futures have been cast into doubt.
