Manchester United were hoping to nab Beni Baningime from Premier League rivals Everton – but he’s staying at Goodison Park.

It might have been a disappointing season for Everton but at least the future looks bright at Goodison Park.
Tom Davies, Mason Holgate, Jonjoe Kenny and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have all broken into the first-team squad after helping David Unsworth’s U23s lift the Premier League 2 title last season. And Beni Baningime looks set to be the latest Merseyside youngster to cement his place in Everton’s senior squad.

The 19-year-old midfielder only signed a new contract back in October but he is so highly-rated at Goodison Park that Everton have handed him a renewed deal just seven months later.
And this should not be underestimated. Securing the talented young midfielder is a major coup for Everton considering that none other than Manchester United have been keeping a close eye on his development.

The Red Devils have made a habit over the years of luring some of the most exciting talents around to Old Trafford and Baningime must surely have at least given some thought of a switch to England’s biggest club.
So the fact that Everton have convinced him to commit his future to them should be seen as a major victory.
