Steve Walsh has come under fire from fans of Premier League outfit Everton with many of his signings struggling at Goodison Park.

When Everton appointed Steve Walsh as their director of football in the summer of 2016, the esteemed talent-spotter was probably expected to identify and sign under-the-radar bargain signings who had slipped by their Premier League rivals.
He was the brains behind Leicester City’s title winning operation after all, bringing the little-known Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kante to the King Power Stadium for pocket change fees.

But, as it stands, Walsh’s spell at Everton will be remembered for precisely the opposite – a series of overpriced and underwhelming signings who have failed to live up to their transfer fees.
Though Catania’s Luka Bogdan is, in fact, the sort of signing Everton would have expected under Walsh.
Unlike Gylfi Sigurdsson, Ashley Williams, Michael Keane and co, Bogdan is far from a household name. A 21-year-old centre-half plying his trade with Italian third-tier outfit Catania, he is far closer related to Vardy, Mahrez and co in that he would be arriving at Goodison Park without hardly anyone having heard his name before, per Tuttosport.

Bogdan, who stands at 6ft 5ins and played for Croatia’s U19 side alongside Toffees winger Nikola Vlasic, evidently has plenty of talent – though it seems that he has not yet been spotted by anyone other than the men from Merseyside.
And should Bogdan sign join Everton and show what a talented player he really is, he will be a rare example of the kind of signing Walsh was hired to make.
