Merseyside and Premier League rivals Liverpool and Everton are reportedly keen to sign Cagliari’s Serie A midfielder Nico Barella.

The one and only Andrea Pirlo thinks Nico Barella is one of the best midfielders in Italian football right now and it seems that a number of Premier League scouts agree.
The highly-rated Cagliari star is a man in demand right now, becoming a gossip column regular thanks to his dynamic performances in Serie A. Barella burst onto the scene last season and has started 2018/19 in fine style too, starting all seven of Cagliari’s league games so far.
According to The Express, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is confident that the Anfield giants will beat Tottenham Hotspur to the 21-year-old’s signature, having forged a good relationship with Cagliari after selling Ragnar Klavan to the Italian outfit in the summer.

Interestingly, however, Liverpool seemingly face competition from their bitter local rivals. The Express are now reporting that Everton sent scouts to watch the £35 million-rated Barella in action during the recent goalless draw against Sampdoria.
It is claimed that the Italy U21 international is keen on a move to the Premier League in January. And while Barella would add skill and drive to Everton’s midfield, the prospect of beating Liverpool to his signature would only make his potential arrival even more impressive.
