Two Premier League sides, Everton and Crystal Palace, are both being linked with Roma’s Serie A midfielder Maxime Gonalons.

Yohan Cabaye’s move to the Middle East has left Crystal Palace searching for an experienced midfielder to replace the influential Frenchman.
And Sky Sports claims that Roy Hodgson’s side have identified the Roma enforcer Maxime Gonalons as their top target, having made an £8.9 million bid to bring him to Selhurst Park. But Crystal Palace are not the only Premier League side in the race to sign the 29-year-old.
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, Everton are also interested.
Palace need a new central midfielder, after seeing both Cabaye and Ruben Loftus-Cheek depart at the end of the season. Everton, however, do not have quite such an obvious need for reinforcements in the centre of the park.
Nonetheless, Gonalons is a player with excellent pedigree. He is a player with huge experience, captaining his former club Lyon and making 333 appearances for the French giants. Gonalons has also represented France at international level and played Champions League football for both Lyon and Roma.

He could be seen as an upgrade on Morgan Schneiderlin, who has never really lived up to his £24 million price-tag at Goodison Park.
Calciomercato adds that Roma could be willing to cash in on Gonalons, who struggled to make an impression in Serie A, with the Champions League semi-finalists eyeing Steven N’Zonzi and Tanguy Ndombele.
