Carlo Ancelotti has been named as a potential successor to Sam Allardyce at Premier League underachievers Everton.

Everton are weighing up their options with just a month left in this Premier League season and Sam Allardyce under considerable pressure at Goodison Park.
The 63-year-old manager is under contract until the end of next season, but it seems increasingly likely that he will not even make it to the beginning of 2018/19 with a whole host of other candidates lined up to take his job. And there is one name that stands out, more so even than Marco Silva and Paulo Fonseca, and that is Carlo Ancelotti.
The Sun claims that one of the most successful managers of the modern era is surprisingly in the running to take over on Merseyside, having previously been linked with the post when Ronald Koeman was sacked in October.

The 58-year-old played down the link then, but Everton may never have a better chance to land the former AC Milan, Juventus, Chelsea, Real Madrid, PSG and Bayern Munich boss, who has won the Champions League three times from the dugout.
Since then, however, there has been an alarming lack of reported interest in a coach whose reputation appears to have taken a big hit after his underwhelming stint at the Allianz Arena.

In fact, the only role that Ancelotti has been genuinely linked with is that of the vacant Italian national post, and he has made clear on countless occasions that he wants to remain in club management for the time being.
So Ancelotti, a manager with a huge status and a dazzling CV, could just be tempted by Everton after all.
