Could reported Everton target Okay Yokuslu be Schneiderlin’s successor?

Morgan Schneiderlin’s time at Everton seems to be over but could Trabzonspor’s Super Lig ace Yokuslu replace him at Goodison Park?

Expect to see a very different looking Everton side take to the field when the 2018/19 season kicks off.

The Guardian states that the Toffees are set to cash in on a whole host of their under-performing players with the £24 million midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin among those on the chopping block.

Schneiderlin struggled to make an impact during 18 months at Manchester United and his reputation has declined further at Goodison Park, with supporters highly critical of a perceived lack of work rate from a player who shone so brightly at Southampton.

And have Everton already identified a young, hungry successor for their out-of-form Frenchman?

Turkish Football believes that Everton are one of a number of English sides interested in signing Trabzonspor’s Turkish international Okay Yokuslu. They made an enquiry about his availability after scouting him in Tuesday’s international friendly clash against Russia.

Yokuslu, who is understood to be valued at a bargain £7 million, has been compared to Barcelona linchpin Sergio Busquetts for his ability to win back possession and start attacks from deep.

He averaged 2.5 tackles and 2.4 interceptions per game last season while also boasting an impressive 83 per cent pass completion rate.

It is understood that Everton were not the only Premier League side who scouted the 24-year-old Yokuslu this week but, if the Toffees win the race, expect Schneiderlin to move a step closer to the exit.
