Mo Besic has enjoyed a fine start to life at Championship side Middlesbrough since arriving on loan from Premier League giants Everton.

Morgan Schneiderlin of Everton during the Premier League match between Everton and Burnley at Goodison Park on October 1, 2017 in Liverpool, England.

Morgan Schneiderlin could have left Everton during the January transfer window.

According to Calciomercato, Serie A giants Inter Milan were keen to sign the French midfielder on deadline day, even offering Croatian international and long-time Toffees target Marcelo Brozovic as part of the deal.

It is understood, however, that manager Sam Allardyce turned the swap down as he was keen to keep Schneiderlin at Goodison Park.

But the former Manchester United midfielder, who Everton paid £24 million for just over a year ago, is not exactly one of the first names on Allardyce’s team-sheet these days. He has started just three league games since the turn of the year and was dropped after the humiliating 5-1 defeat to Arsenal earlier this month.

So Mo Besic should have some hope that there will be a space opening up in Everton’s midfield for him to potentially resurrect his Goodison Park career.

The injury-hit ankle-biter only played 46 minutes of football in the Premier League this season but a loan spell at Middlesbrough has given him an opportunity to remind everyone why Everton signed him on the back of his excellent displays for Bosnia and Herzegovina at the 2014 World Cup.

Besic stood out on his Middlesbrough debut during a defeat at Cardiff City at the weekend, and was the star the show in Tuesday’s 3-1 win against Hull City. Winning three tackles and dominating the centre of the park, Boro fans took to Twitter in their droves to lavish praise on the new man.

And, who knows, if he keeps up this form perhaps he could force Allardyce’s hand and replace Schneiderlin in the Toffees’ midfield in the near future.
