West Brom striker Salomon Rondon is at the centre of a tug-of-war between Premier League neighbours Everton and Liverpool this month.
It seems that Salomon Rondon left a lasting impression on Everton during West Bromwich Albion’s 1-1 draw at Goodison Park on Saturday.
The Venezuelan’s performance might be best remembered for an unfortunate tangle with James McCarthy which resulted in The Toffees midfielder suffering a horrific broken leg. But Rondon’s overall display was actually very impressive indeed.
He terrorised Everton’s back line, started the move which led to Jay Rodriquez’s opener and rattled the bar with a stunning strike late on.
And, just three days later, the Sun reports that Sam Allardyce’s side are now preparing a bid for the West Brom number nine with a week remaining in the transfer window.
But Rondon also has admirers from the other side of Stanley Park too. The Sun adds that Liverpool are keen and could go head-to-head with their Merseyside rivals Everton this month.
The Reds’ lack of a Plan B was exposed as Swansea City sat back and defended a one goal lead at the Liberty Stadium on Monday night, so a target man of Rondon’s ilk could give Jurgen Klopp another dimension in attack.
The reprot states that West Brom may be willing to sell for about £15 million and it seems that Everton fans would love to beat their bitter rivals to Rondon’s signature.
