West Brom’s out-of-favour forward looks certain to depart but would Everton take a punt?

If Saido Berahino can’t convince Tony Pulis that he’s worth a place in West Brom’s starting XI, what chance would he have of forcing his way into contention under a manager who has made clear his refusal to tolerate a questionable work ethic?

Ronald Koeman wasted no time in consigning Ross Barkley and Gerard Deulofeu, two of the most naturally gifted players in Everton’s squad, to the sidelines due to their perceived idleness this season.

Therefore, the Daily Mail’s claims that The Toffees are preparing to offer £10 million for Berahino, who twice this season has been sent to a French fitness camp in order to blitz his way back to fitness, seems somewhat outlandish. Especially with the 23-year-old out of contract at the end of the season and, per the Daily Mail, unwilling to even consider signing a new deal.

Furthermore, the fact that he’s only played 245 minutes of Premier League action this season after tallying just four goals and 17 starts the previous campaign suggests stepping straight into the Everton XI would not be an option.

Nonetheless, a few Toffees fans seem to think the risk would reap rewards.
