Celtic left-back Emilio Izaguirre sees a bright future for himself at Parkhead – but that could be ruined if Charlie Taylor signs from Leeds United.

If Celtic are to sign one of the most exciting, in-demand players in English football right now, it may not go down well with a player already at Brendan Rodgers’ disposal.
Long-serving left-back Emilio Izaguirre brought an end to months of speculation surrounding his future by inking a one-year contract extension recently. However, it is clear that the Honduran international does not envisage himself bidding farewell to Parkhead this time next year either.
“I am proud to have played for Celtic for so long and grateful to the fans and the board. The Celtic manager has told me he wants to keep me,” the 88-time international said in quotes reported by the Daily Record.
“My wish is to stay for three more years with my family and then go to the MLS for two years and finish my career for four or five years at Motagua in Honduras.”

Three more seasons would take Izaguirre up to the magic 10 at Celtic. However, with The Sun claiming that Brendan Rodgers has his heart set on a summer move for Leeds United left-back Charlie Taylor, you wonder just how likely it is that Izaguirre will fulfil his ambitions.

The report claims that the 23-year-old, who is out-of-contract at Elland Road this summer, is wanted by Premier League duo West Bromwich Albion and Burnley but that Celtic are hoping to muscle in on the battle.
And while West Brom and Burnley would be forced to pay substantial compensation fee because Taylor rose through the academy system at Elland Road, a loophole in regulations means Celtic – as a club based outside of England – would not have to go through a tribunal and hand a large sum of money over to Leeds.
News of a potential deal certainly will not go down well with Leeds fans – or with Izaguirre for that matter.
Homegrown hero Kieran Tierney is expected to remain for the foreseeable future despite links with the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool and Taylor’s arrival would push Izaguirre down to third choice.
