Phil Parkinson has been handed a two-game ban after a brawl in Bolton Wanderers’ 2-1 Champions League defeat to Leeds United.
Almost a fortnight after Leeds United edged to a 2-1 victory at home to struggling Bolton Wanderers, the FA have finally handed down the punishments for an unseemly second-half brawl that threatened to overshadow what had been an intriguing and competitive encounter.
Midway through the second half, a late foul by Josh Magennis on Ezgjan Alioski sparked a major disagreement with both sets of players – and no shortage of coaches – by the left-hand touchline.
And matters were certainly made worse when Leeds midfielder Mateusz Klich squirted water at Magennis’ back – a rather futile gesture but one that appeared to rile the Irishman and make matters worse.
Bolton manager Phil Parkinson, who had been rather ‘vocal’ all match and was even shushed by Alioski at one point as his complaints continued, lost his temper again and has now been handed a two-game touchline ban, as reported by the Mail.
This is the last thing a Bolton side battling against relegation and in a dire financial situation need, especially with the club handed an £8,000 fine.
But how do Bolton fans feel about the punishment? It seems the majority cannot understand why Leeds have got away scot-free, apart from a £5,000 fine that is.
