Scottish Premiership title-chasers Rangers once again loaned out Mexican striker Eduardo Herrera, the 29-year-old joining Liga MX outfit Necaxa.
Eduardo Herrera really needs a fresh start.
The striker’s last 18 months have been something of a write off after all. He was a major disappointment during his spell in Scotland with Rangers, making a mockery of his £1.5 million price-tag after scoring just two goals in 24 games for the Glasgow giants.
And a loan spell back in Mexico in the first half of 2018/19 hardly helped Herrera get his career back on track. He failed to score a single goal during six months at Santos Laguna and saw his time at the club cut short after failing to feature in any of their last ten games before the January transfer window.
But Herrera has made a much brighter start to life at Necaxa.
The 29-year-old joined another Liga MX outfit with Rangers loaning him out again last week – and he could hardly have made a better start.
The Mexican international scored just three minutes into his debut in a 2-0 cup win away at Atletico San Luis, meaning he has already beaten his tally from that dreadful spell at Santos Laguna.
Time will tell, however, whether this is just another false dawn.
