Celtic swept Hibs aside in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday night, with goals from Ryan Christie and Oliver Burke sealing a win at Parkhead.
Eddie May has admitted that Celtic were a cut above as his Hibernian side lost 2-0 at Parkhead on Wednesday night, as reported by the BBC.
Brendan Rodgers’ reigning champions retained their six point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table as they swept aside The Hoops in midweek, Ryan Christie’s opener following Oliver Burke’s third goal for the club since he arrived on loan from West Brom in January.
Celtic have now won six games in a row since their defeat to Rangers in December and always looked in control against a Hibs side who failed to register a shot on target across 90 minutes.
The hosts managed 19 attempts and dominated the possession with 60 per cent.
And, after the game, caretaker manager Eddie May admitted that Hibs simply couldn’t deal with the quality at Celtic’s disposal.
“We can play better. We could have defended the two goals we lost a bit better but Celtic are a top-class team,” he told the BBC.
“They really stretch you, they test you physically and tactically. We tried to press from the front and had some success early on but Celtic imposed their style on us. We need to be braver on the ball.”
Christie and Burke impressed again in green and white but a special mention must go to Jeremy Toljan, who shone on his debut after signing on a temporary deal from Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund.
The former Hoffenheim flyer was a constant threat down the right and set up Christie’s opener with an intelligent cross.
