Leeds United are unlikely to afford a permanent deal for Hamburg striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga, but other Championship teams are interested.

With just two months remaining this season, we are still none the wiser about whether or not Pierre-Michel Lasogga will be playing his football at Leeds United next season.
The German striker has been on loan at Elland Road from Hamburg and is the club’s top scorer with 10 goals in 19 Championship starts. But the fact is that Leeds are paying just a fraction of his £50,000-a-week wages, as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, so Lasogga would need to accept a rather substantial drop in pay if he is to remain a Whites player.

Although if Leeds decide against signing Lasogga on a permanent basis, this does not necessarily mean he will not be featuring in England’s second tier next season.
The transfer fee is unlikely to a problem as a cash-strapped Hamburg side desperate to sell face a seemingly inevitable relegation, but Lasogga’s next destination is likely to come down to who could afford his mammoth wages.

But, if Aston Villa are promoted this season, they will have money to spend and could potentially be one of the current second-tier sides who have been keeping a close eye on the striker’s performances in West Yorkshire.
Villa will need a striker in the summer, particularly if they earn a return to the Premier League, with Lewis Grabban only on loan and Scott Hogan and Keinan Davis yet to prove they could make the step up.
Lasogga, however, is the kind of powerful centre-forward Villa boss Steve Bruce likes, so do not rule out the Midland giants giving him the chance to stay in England.
