Ouasim Bouy has never played a Championship game for Leeds United but is at least finding game time easier to come by in the Eredivisie.

Leeds United’s forgotten man Ouasim Bouy was quite happy with his latest performance for PEC Zwolle.
The 25-year-old Dutchman moved back to his homeland last summer, joining Zwolle on loan. And after spending the first few months in and out of the team, he has emerged as a key player since the former Reading boss Jaap Stam replaced John Van’t Schip during the winter break.
A midfielder by trade, Bouy has been used as a sweeper at the heart of a back three under Stam. But it is fair to say Zwolle’s defence did not exactly look watertight in Saturday’s 3-0 home defeat to De Graafschap.
Local paper De Swollenaer described Bouy’s performance as ‘lousy’ as PEC were taken apart by the newly promoted side. But that has not destroyed the confidence of the former Juventus, Hamburg and Ajax player, who believes he held his own.
“I think I played well, even though things could have gone better today. Do you think I played well?” Bouy asked the paper. ‘No’ seems to be the answer.

“We can play well, I still have every confidence. We try to play football, that’s our quality. That’s part of the risk we take.”
A free signing from Juventus in the summer of 2017, Bouy looks like one of Victor Orta’s more hair-brained ideas to date, having failed to make a single appearance for The Whites and infamously flopping during a loan spell at Spanish second tier side Cultural Leonesa last season.
If he wants a future at Elland Road, and a Mateusz Klich-style resurgence, displays like Saturday’s should not be repeated.
