Wolverhampton Wanderers loaned Duckens Nazon to League Two Coventry City for half a season and Nuno should be watching.
English football may be an increasingly continental world but its unlikely Coventry City have had many Haitian internationals leading the line over the years. Duckens Nazon, however, has been nothing other than a revelation in recent weeks with the Sky Blues shooting up to fourth place in the League Two table.
Nazon’s well-taken winner against Crewe Alexandra at the weekend was his fourth in his last five games since moving to Coventry on loan in the summer. And parent club Wolves should be keeping a close eye on his progress down at the Ricoh Arena.
Nazon may not have made a single Championship appearance for Wolves since arriving from Indian Super League outfit Kerala Blasters in January but it is clear that he is highly regarded at Molineux.
The club extended his initial six-month contract up to 2019 while loaning him out to Coventry in August and the 20-time international is already showing signs that Wolves’ patience could eventually pay off.
Nazon, who scored twice in five games for the club’s Under-23s last season, is already a firm fans’ favourite at Coventry and will be sorely missed when his loan spell ends at the beginning of January.
Though with Leo Bonatini the only senior centre-forward in a Wolves side high on quick-footed creators though lacking in natural striking options, Nazon could prove between now and the New Year that he is worth a place in Nuno Espirito Santo’s first-team plans.
