Nottingham Forest’s Tyler Walker left Nottingham Forest to join Championship rivals Bolton Wanderers on loan in January.
Young Nottingham Forest striker Tyler Walker would have been hoping to get some first team opportunities under his belt with a loan move to Bolton Wanderers on the final day of the transfer deadline day in January.
The 21-year-old, son of Forest legend Des, had started a decent tally of seven Championship games in the first half of the season while netting three goals under Mark Warburton.
That is three more than he has managed since joining Bolton, however. Walker has made five appearances without scoring and has not featured now since the 3-1 home defeat to Preston at the start of last month, where he was hooked after an hour.
And, worryingly for Forest, the highly-rated academy graduate was left out of the weekend draw with Barnsley – and instead featured in an U23 clash with Millwall alongside fellow City Ground loanee Zach Clough.
The explanation given by Bolton boss Phil Parkinson is perhaps even more damning. As reported by the Nottingham Post, he said that no one has a divine right to be in his matchday squad, which raises questions about how Walker has been performing in training.
The youngster has a bright future at Forest and a contract until 2021, but his struggles at Bolton do nothing to suggest he can become a first-team regulars like fellow academy stars Ben Osborn and Ben Brereton.
