Luka Modric is reportedly open to leaving La Liga champions Real Madrid but what are the chances of a return to the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur?

Luka Modric of Croatia celebrates his team's 1-0 win in the UEFA EURO 2016 Group D match between Turkey and Croatia at Parc des Princes on June 12, 2016 in Paris, France.

Sensational reports from Sky Sports that Luka Modric is open to leaving Real Madrid this summer have appeared like the proverbial bolt from the blue.

But dig a little deeper and there are reasons why the World Cup Golden Ball winner would be tempted to swap the Bernabau for Inter Milan, who are reported to have made contact with the 32-year-old’s representatives.

In six years at Real, Modric has won pretty much everything there is to win; one La Liga title, one Copa Del Rey, three Club World Cups and four Champions League crowns in the last four seasons.

And there is the added Croatian factor at Inter. Should Modric move to the San Siro, he would be joining his international teammates Ivan Perisic, Marcelo Brozovic and Srme Vrsaljko, who arrived on loan from Atletico Madrid this week.

But with Modric’s head seemingly turned, it is no surprise that Tottenham Hotspur fans are dreaming of one last chance to bring the wonderful play-maker back to North London.

The former Dinamo Zagreb star thrived in four years at White Hart Lane before his £30 million move to Madrid in 2012 and, if the supporters had their way, Tottenham would be doing everything in their power to lure Modric to the capital city once again.

Spurs have not signed a single player this summer and this would be a spectacular way for Daniel Levy to answer his critics.
