Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur are third in the Premier League table and just five points behind Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

Is this current Tottenham Hotspur team their strongest side since the Premier League began? With Mauricio Pochettino at the helm, and a smattering of genuinely world class talent on the pitch, the answer might just be yes.
Between 1992 and Pochettino’s arrival in 2014, Spurs had only finished in the top four on two occasions. But the North London giants have established themselves as a genuine contender in recent seasons, ending the last three campaigns in third, second and third again.
But with Manchester City arguably establishing themselves as the greatest, most thrilling team in the history of the competition, Tottenham’s chances of evolving from nearly-men to champions of England look slim.
And, speaking on talkSPORT, one-time Tottenham right-back Stephen Kelly has lamented the quality at Pep Guardiola’s disposal with the title seemingly beyond his former employers once again.

“The only thing that’s stopping them is that Man City have gone from nought to 60. If Man City weren’t in the Premier League (Tottenham could win the title),” Kelly said.
“Since (Pochettino) has taken over, Tottenham are getting closer and closer and closer. And all of a sudden, Pep took over at City and they’ve just taken it to the next chapter. That’s the issue.”
Tottenham have enjoyed an impressive start to the season, sitting just five points behind reigning champions City having battered London rivals Chelsea 3-1 at Wembley on Saturday, the sort of thrilling attacking performance that showcased their huge potential.
But Manchester City look simply unstoppable right now and a dominant 1-0 win in North London last month highlighted the gap that remains between the two sides.
